ACROSS THE STRETCH Almost everyone has held a tape measure and tried to see how far they can stretch it out before the tape bends. In this game you will stretch out the tape to build bridges. Download Slides WHAT TO GET TAPE MEASURE. You will need two of THESE. PING PONG BALLS. The bare minimum for this game is two but it’s always nice to have extra. Grab some HERE. CUPS. You will need eight total, and they need to be big enough to hold a ping pong ball. Grab some HERE. TAPE. To mark your bridge lines. Grab some HERE. WHAT TO PREP BRIDGE LINES. In the middle of your playing area place two parallel lines of tape about three feet apart. Then on both sides of the tape place four lines that get further and further away from your two center lines. These far lines should be identical to each other to create two separate courses make sure your tape measure can reach between all of your lines. Place four cups at each of the far lines and both of your tape measures at the two center lines, along with ping pong balls. HOW TO PLAY CHOOSE CONTESTANTS. Choose two teams of two play. One person will stand between the two center lines and hold the tape measure. The other will stand next to the cup at the closest line to their teammate. BUILD A BRIDGE. On “Go,” the contestant holding the tape measure will start stretching the tape out toward their teammate. The object here is to get the tape measure to reach the cup and build a bridge. Next the contestant holding the tape measure will grab a ping pong ball and place it on the tape. The person holding the cup will raise or lower the cup allowing the ping pong ball to roll towards the cup. The object is to get the ping pong ball in the cup, but if you roll to fast the ball will fall off, but if you roll two slow you will lose. If the ball falls off the bridge pick up a new ball and start again. Once the ball reaches the cup. The person holding the tape measure allows it to roll back up and the person holding the cup sits it down and retrieves the ball. The teammates switch positions and start on the next bridge. First team to successfully moved a ping pong ball to all four cups they wins! PRO TIPS Depending on how long you want this game to last or the skill of your teenagers you can add more distances and cups they have to build bridges too.
