They signed up because they care. They said \u201cyes\u201d because they love kids, believe in your ministry, or trusted your invitation.<\/p>\n<p>But recruiting volunteers is only the first step. Once someone joins your team, a new question begins to surface: <em>\u201cAm I doing this right?\u201d<\/em> If we want volunteers to feel confident, supported, and excited to keep showing up, we have to earn their trust and equip them well.<\/p>\n<p>That trust doesn\u2019t come from expectations alone. It\u2019s built through <a href=\"https:\/\/growcurriculum.org\/all-ages\/leadership\/strategy-guides-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-gc-link=\"https:\/\/growcurriculum.org\/all-ages\/leadership\/strategy-guides-1\">strategy<\/a>, clarity, consistency, encouragement, and practical support. Volunteers need more than a role description or a quick thank-you\u2014they need tangible tools that help them lead well and feel valued as part of the team.<\/p>\n<p>Here are five tools you can offer to volunteers to build trust and help them serve kids, teenagers, and families with confidence.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><em>1. VOLUNTEER HANDBOOK<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>A Volunteer Handbook answers one of the most important questions every volunteer is asking: <em>\u201cWhat exactly am I supposed to do?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A clear, thoughtful handbook helps volunteers understand:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"1\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">Your ministry\u2019s vision and values<\/li>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"1\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">What their role looks like in real life<\/li>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"1\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">What they can expect from you\u2014and what you\u2019re asking from them<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It also provides clarity around expectations, safety policies, and how volunteers can best support kids and students.
