NOT SO SIMPLE: A 4-WEEK SERIES FROM THE BOOK OF JAMES ON LOVING OTHERS
SERIES OVERVIEW:
To some people, “spiritual maturity” means being able to hold your own in a complex theological debate, a deep spiritual discussion, or a Bible trivia competition. The assumption is the more someone learns, memorizes, or studies about faith, the more spiritually mature they will become. While a deep well of knowledge can be a great tool to help us grow, what good is that knowledge if we don’t let it change our behavior? The book of James isn’t exactly known for its deep theology or complex concepts. Instead, it confronts us with deceptively simple instructions for loving God and others — instructions that seem straightforward, but are actually pretty difficult to follow. In this series, we’ll be confronted with four not-so-simple reminders from James that are key to helping us live more like Jesus: to listen more than we speak, stop playing favorites, watch our words, and fight for peace.
