THE ORDINARY: A 4-WEEK SERIES ON EVENGELISM
SERIES OVERVIEW:
Reading a great biography, watching a movie about someone’s life, or listening to a really incredible story can be inspiring and also cause us to think, “Wow, that’s amazing . . . But I can not relate.” Have you ever felt that way when hearing someone else’s faith story or even reading the stories of early church leaders? When we read the New Testament and see stories of miraculous healings, prison breaks, city-changing sermons, and the power of the gospel – we might be amazed while also tempted to think we could never do what they did. When we place all our focus on the most incredible, miraculous, dramatic, extraordinary stories of people’s faith, it can leave us feeling like our own stories are boring. Unimportant. Ordinary. But the truth is, most stories in the Bible are actually stories of ordinary people, doing ordinary things, who were transformed or used by God in extraordinary ways. As we examine some of these stories we might just find out our “ordinary” lives can accomplish extraordinary things because our faith stories are connected, always in progress, worth sharing, and at the end of the day they are not about us.
